Georgette is a crepe fabric that is not only light weighted and sheer but also has a very dull-finish to it and a rough texture. Georgette is made from silk with highly twisted yarns. The crinkled surface characteristic of the fabric is created by twisting S and Z twist yarns in both warp and weft weave. Apart from making georgette sarees, this fabric is also used to make blouses, skirts, dresses, gowns, tops, kurtas, and trimmings. They are also found in prints and solid colors.
This material is springier and less lustrous than the related chiffon fabric. Georgette Sarees are often woven in two forms. While the pure Georgette is woven out of natural silk yarns. The artificial Faux Georgette is woven from manmade Nylon, Rayon, and Polyester.
